North Cornwall hosts two wheel weekend extravaganza!

North Cornwall Cycle Tor 19th and 20th April 2008

Cyclists from all over the Country are expected to attend a two wheel weekend extravaganza in North Cornwall which promises to have something for all the family. Ultra fit pedal pushers and their families who may not be so fit are invited to the North Cornwall Tor on the weekend of the 19th and 20th of April. Based at the Dragon Leisure Centre in Bodmin the weekend culminates in what is being dubbed a "beast"of an event. A 100 mile or 100 kilometre paricularly challenging Cycle Sportive taking in Bodmin Moor and the Atlantic Heritage Coast.

We wont say this is the toughest in the UK(some might with 10,500ft or3,200 metres of climbing to do), but we certainly believe this cyclosportive packs in themost picturesque countryside and coastline. The long route is a tough hilly 100 mile ride with a route profile resembling a saw-blade! The shorter 110km option is also tough even though there is less distance.

Cycle sportives are the latest in cycling events - gruelling courses where riders pit themselves against the elements and difficult terrain. Before the Cycle Sportive on the Sunday, on the Saturday afternoon the 19th there is a family cycling day where as many people as possible are encouraged to take a leisurely sponsored ride along the world famous Camel Trail, an 18 mile off road, safe, flat trail that winds its way through the glorious North Cornwall countryside.

The North Cornwall Cycle Tor is open to anyone who feels they would like to take up the challenge. Click here for more information.  There is an abundance of good quality accommodation available in Bodmin and the surrounding area, click here to find your perfect spot.
