These two farm holiday cottages are a conversion of an old stone built shippen (barn) in the grounds of Berrio Mill. Berrio Mill nestles in the peace and tranquillity of the undiscovered Lynher valley. Approached via a quiet country lane, these cottages have been created for those who really want to escape from it all. We have been awarded the 'Green Acorn' award by the South East Cornwall Tourism Association for our environmental credentials
Our guests have complete access to the fields, footpaths, river, streams and woodlands of Berrio Mill. Here we have an 8½ acre smallholding with chickens and honey bees. Guests are also free to fish for salmon, sea trout and brown trout along our 600 yard river bank or just take a picnic and let the herons, kingfishers or otters do the fishing for you!
Bodmin Moor is just a 3 mile drive away with Kit Hill 5 miles and Dartmoor 15 miles. From your cottage you have the opportunity to spend the day exploring the local scenery with footpaths and circular walks through woodland and meadows and along the River Lynher. There is an excellent selection of pubs and restaurants in the surrounding Cornish villages and towns. A little further afield there are a wealth of traditional coastal villages with Looe to the south and the sensational beaches and coves on the north coast just 45 minutes away. Some of the many attractions within the area include Lanhydrock House and Gardens, The Eden Project, Cotehele House, Siblyback Lake offering a variety of water sports, Dobwalls Theme Park, Carnglaze Cavern, St Mellion Golf Course, Sterts Theatre, etc.
Melyn Cottage sleeps up to two people, this cottage consists of a vaulted ceiling in the living room with a fully equipped kitchen, dining and lounge areas with a wood burning stove. There are exposed beams throughout the cottage. The bedroom has a king size bed, fitted wardrobe and en suite shower room with a large shower unit. The living room has windows at front and rear and French doors which lead to the private patio with uninterrupted views across the mill leat to the fields and River Lynher beyond.
Gwenyn Cottage sleeps up to 4 people, this cottage consists of a vaulted ceiling living room with a fully equipped kitchen, dining and lounge areas with a wood burning stove. There are exposed beams throughout the cottage. The first bedroom has a king size bed, the second has two single beds. Both bedrooms have fitted wardrobes. The bathroom provides you with a choice of an exhilarating shower or a soak in the bath. Both the bedrooms and the bathroom have uninterrupted view of the fields at the rear of the cottage. The triple aspect living room has French doors which lead to the patio which also looks across the mill leat to the fields and River Lynher beyond.
